The top trends for the outdoor design now

Summer is here and it’s finally time for chilling out and enjoying time outdoor. Weather you will leave for some holidays in a summery destination or you are going to stay in the city, it’s always good to spend some time in a well-decorated alfresco area.

Let’s go together through some of the latest trends in the outdoor decor, to give you some inspiration for your garden, terrace, pool…or anything else!

  1. Bring the indoor Out

Whether it’s a garden, a terrace, a portico or a swimming pool… this year’s top trend for the outdoor design is bringing the indoor out. That’s to say, furnishing the outdoor space in order to make it as comfortable and welcoming as the indoor. On the opposite side, indoor design is becoming more and more similar to the outdoor, with lots of natural plants and materials such as wicker and rattan which were typically used outdoor.

Don’t be afraid to decorate your outdoor space with comfortable seats, with upholstered furniture, fabrics and cushions: the latest outdoor furniture proposals are designed to be out in the open.

  1. Add some beautiful lights

One element we usually forget in the outdoor design is lighting. Instead, it is really important as during summer evening is the best time to be spent outdoor. You can opt for some fixed floor or wall lamps, but also for some nice garlands which will give a Scandinavian vibe to the space.

  1. A bohemian touch

Adding a bohemian flair to your backyard, terrace and alfresco space is one of the most current trends at present. To get a boho-chic twist don’t be afraid to mix new colourful furniture and fabrics, together with some finds from thrift markets from the Seventies and from exotic places. For an additional vibe, add a patterned rug which can be used both in the indoor and in the outdoor.

  1. Go for hammocks and daybeds

Did you notice how popular hammocks and daybeds are this year in interiors? No doubt they are a great furniture element for the outdoor too, to create a very relaxed and cozy feeling. The good thing is that now, once season gets colder and you are not using them in the outdoor anymore, you can bring them indoor!

  1. Kitchens and showers now are for the outdoor too

Another news of this year are special fittings designed to stay in the open and to resist outside. Several design brands proposed kitchens for the outdoor, to cook your meals in the garden or in the terrace and be ready for dinners with friends outdoor. Showers are now designed for the outdoor too, and they are a cool option if you are lucky enough to have your own swimming pool.

Enjoy your summertime!
